Teacher Appreciation Week starts May 6: How to show your thanks to our teachers and tell Lt. Gov. Robinson we don’t need right-wing politics in our schools

Teacher Appreciation Week begins on May 6 and it’s the perfect opportunity to recognize the hard work our public school educators, faculty and staff put in to ensure the success of our children.

Our public schools work best when parents and teachers can collaborate on what children need so that every child gets the quality education they deserve. What doesn’t work is when politicians like Mark Robinson and Michele Morrow try to force their right-wing anti-education agenda into our schools and classrooms.

Robinson, who has called hardworking educators “demons” and “wicked people,” will inject radical politics into our classrooms, hindering both students and educators.

He has also said “school systems get better results on less money” and that “cutting the fat” out of the education budget would be “essential” – and he supports the Republican-led plan from the state legislature to give taxpayer-funded vouchers to millionaires.

Robinson, who has previously endorsed Morrow – a woman who has called our state’s public schools “socialistic indoctrination” centers and accused teachers of being “groomers” who train children in “transgender theory” – would be in lock-step with her radical plans to dismantle public schools.

This year for Teacher Appreciation Week we are asking parents, students, and North Carolina residents to sign a letter to Mark Robinson detailing how much educators in our great state are appreciated and to let him know that we expect more from our leaders.

Also, if there is a special Pre-K through 12th-grade public school teacher or teacher’s aide who has made an impact on your life or the life of your child, let them know how grateful you are for the work they do by nominating them to win a $200 gift card from us! All nominees will also receive a digital thank you card with your nomination message. Submit your entry before 11:59 p.m. ET on May 10 to enter your teacher into the raffle.
