Progress NC Action thanks Thom Tillis

Progress NC Action released the following statement on Friday in response to bipartisan legislation introduced by Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Chris Coons (D-DE) that would protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller while he leads an investigation into the Trump campaign’s dealings with Russia:

“After Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, we urged North Carolina’s senators to support an independent special prosecutor who couldn’t be fired by the very person he is investigating,” said Gerrick Brenner, Executive Director of Progress NC Action. “We thank Sen. Tillis for supporting these protections for Special Counsel Mueller, and we urge Sen. Burr to join his Republican colleague. Legislation blocking Donald Trump from firing the Special Counsel is the only way to ensure a complete investigation into the Trump campaign’s dealings with the Russian government, and the Senate should act swiftly.”
