North Carolinians want a state Supreme Court that is fair, independent, and answers to the state Constitution, not political parties and corporate special interests.

But in recent years, Republican Justices Paul Newby and Phil Berger, Jr. have ruined the Court with their blatant political maneuvering. 

Two years ago, Newby and Berger backtracked on long established precedent and greenlit the state legislature to freely gerrymander political districts without court oversight. Thanks to this ruling, Republicans in the state legislature just passed their fifth Congressional map in six years this October. 

And then last year, when the Republican state Supreme Court candidate lost his election, Newby and Berger tried to throw out 60,000 votes, including those of many veterans, in order to overturn the results. Thankfully, a Trump-appointed federal judge intervened before they were able to implement their plan. 

The Republican-led state Supreme Court is willing to rig our elections in order to support their political friends, and it’s coming at the expense of the rest of us. Sign this petition to demand NC Supreme Court Justices act ethically now.
