From WNCT: Protesters in Greenville rally against proposed changes to N.C. courts

It was a cold day but that didn’t stop the residents of Greenville, North Carolina from standing in front of the Pitt County Courthouse to demand that our courts remain fair and independent.  Lawmakers in Raleigh have already made judicial elections political, the first state in 100 years to go back to a party based judicial election.  They have canceled the primary election completely a move which is now being challenged as unconstitutional in court. And just this week they presented new gerrymandered judicial districts, and propose to do away with elections altogether so they can appoint the judges themselves, allowing them to cherry-pick their political friends so the courts will rule in their favor.  This is why people are taking to the streets to fight this unfair and unconstitutional attack on our free and independent courts.
