Trump campaigns for Dan Bishop TONIGHT while slashing funds for NC military institutions, including an elementary school for military families at Fort Bragg.
FAYETTEVILLE — Donald Trump is coming back in North Carolina this evening — not to assist the Hurricane Dorian recovery effort in the Outer Banks, but to campaign in Fayetteville for HB2 sponsor Dan Bishop on a platform of bigotry and division. Trump won’t likely mention it, but this time he’s pulling money from a Fort Bragg elementary school to pay for his vanity wall.
Bishop is currently running ads featuring Trump ranting about his racist border wall, and the wall is likely to be a major topic of Trump’s visit. So how does Dan Bishop feel about Trump’s plan to cut $80 million from North Carolina military installations to pay for his ridiculous vanity project?
Those cuts include the elimination of funding that was intended to replace Butner Elementary School, which is located on Fort Bragg.
“Who’s going to pay for the wall?” asked Gerrick Brenner, executive director of Progress NC Action. “Turns out it’s not Mexico. Instead, it’s Butner Elementary School at Fort Bragg and other military construction projects the Pentagon has said are needed to support our military families and to keep our armed forces ready. As Dan Bishop stands with Donald Trump tonight, he should explain why military families should have to pay for Trump’s border wall boondoggle and broken campaign promise.”
