North Carolinians could send as many as 10 seditionists to Washington in this November’s midterms
There’s a ton at stake in the upcoming midterm elections but the most important issue isn’t getting the attention it deserves.
Americans’ rights – such as reproductive, voting and LGBTQ+ – are all at risk this November. Also at risk? Our democracy.
Nearly 300 Republicans who in some way supported the Jan. 6 insurrection and the effort to overturn the 2020 election are on ballots across the country. People who wanted to dismantle our system of government could soon be the ones in charge of it.
- North Carolinians should be very familiar with these seditionists because seven of them are Republican representatives from North Carolina who are currently in the U.S. House of Representatives – Madison Cawthorn, Greg Murphy, Virginia Foxx, Dan Bishop, David Rouzer, Richard Hudson and Ted Budd.
- According to The Washington Post, 10 seditionists are on the ballot in North Carolina. It’s possible that North Carolinians will send seven seditionists to the House and one to the Senate.
- These 10 candidates are just the ones running for national office. There are dozens running for local offices like county commission seats and school boards.
This election it is imperative that progressives show up to the polls. The future of our democracy hinges on these races. Together we have the power to ensure fair elections for future generations.
